Gold Museum of the Banco De La Republica de Colombia

The Banco de la República opened its new museum building in 2004, with two new permanent exhibition galleries, an auditorium and a restaurant-café.

They are enlarging the exhibition areas to offer visitors another two permanent galleries in 2008, together with a temporary exhibitions gallery and an Exploratorium for children. When the two buildings are joined, they will form the world's largest Pre-Columbian Gold Museum in the world.

Pre-Hispanic goldwork objects were more than mere ornaments, they were symbols of the religion of pre-Hispanic indigenous groups - shamanism.
